Branża motoryzacyjna (tzw. automotive industry) stanowi i stanowiła będzie przedmiot strategii unijnych związanych z Europejskim Zielonym Ładem, a jej dalszy rozwój podlega silnemu zdeterminowaniu przez nowe regulacje Unii Europejskiej. Tworzenie przepisów dotyczący tego sektora jest wyrazem wpływu polityki ochrony środowiska na podmioty gospodarcze oraz na ich codzienne funkcjonowanie. W przypadku UE wydaje się, że strukturalne przemiany jakościowo-ilościowe w branży motoryzacyjnej generują innowacje, które są niejako narzucone producentom samochodów systemowo również przez europejską politykę środowiskową. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie wybranych aspektów Europejskiego Zielonego Ładu jako przykładu polityki nie tylko proekologicznej, ale również skłaniającej do postawy proinnowacyjnej w pryzmacie jej wpływu na branżę motoryzacyjną. W części merytorycznej zaprezentowany więc zostanie przegląd kluczowych aktów prawnych mających bezpośrednie oddziaływanie na producentów aut osobowych z ostatnich dwóch dekad. Tłem i podstawą do dalszych rozważań teoretycznych jest przegląd koncepcji naukowych i ogólna prezentacja literatury z dziedziny ekonomii i nauk o zarządzaniu na temat innowacji i innowacyjności jako pojęć teoretycznych.
